It's that time of the year again. Stake basketball is upon us! To kick off the 2013 Murrieta Stake Basketball season, we thought it would be fun to put on a 3 on 3 tournament. This will give everyone a chance to dust off the basketball shoes that have been in the closet since last season and run a little before this season begins.
The tournament will take place Saturday March 23 beginning at 4pm at the Stake Center. The tournament is open to everyone in the stake (women, men, youth) and your friends. Teams can be co-ed, include youth & non-members. You can even team up with people from other wards within the stake. As long as you have 3 people on your team you will be good to go. You can view the rules for the tournament here.
Here are a few highlights from the rules for this year's tournament:
- Up to 4 players on a team (3 on the court at a time).
- 10 minute games or 13 points (1's & 2's), whichever comes first.
- Double elimination (everyone will play at least 2 games).
- Every foul shoots a free throw.
If you are interested in playing please "Join" the event on our Facebook Page and we will contact you from there. If you are not on FB you can contact Tom Jones (Alta Murrieta) or Kevin Vincent (Los Alamos) to let us know you have a team or would like to participate. We are also looking for volunteers to help with scoreboards, clocks and reffing. If you can help in any of those areas contact us the same ways we listed above.
To keep updated on this event the upcoming basketball season and all other stake sports activities, please take a second to follow this blog and "Like" us on Facebook.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the court this Saturday!
